Right now the hubby and I are on our 4th air bed in less than 2 months. Someone just won’t get my point about the limited capacity of airbeds. Certain activities simply should not be attempted in air beds; but… We’re using a twin sized air bed with a max weight capacity of 300. Our combined weight is around 280 pounds. Would be nice if he could gain some weight but that’s neither here nor there. As to why we’re using an twin? He came back from the store the day he went to replace the airbed claiming it was the only size he could find. We’re that poor….

So anyway, I see some sofa beds on the apt-ny.com that I like. I like the color of their mandarin logo sofa bed which they describe as smart sexy and seductive, although I’m not particularly enthusiastic about the leg part. So asking yourself “What is my decorating style?” might not be such a bad idea. And you shouldn’t just ask the question but actually take the time to try to figure out the answer. Doing that can be as easy as going online and looking at pictures of furniture, pictures of interior wall paints and home decor items and making a note of how you respond to different shapes, colors, designs etcetera. Pay close attention and measure your reactions so you know when you’ve found something you neither love nor hate, something you absolutely hate, something you absolutely love. Obviously try to go with things you absolutely love. If you find nothing you absolutely love then go with neutral which are the things you neither love nor hate. But definitely make the effort to find things you love.

My layout is not fantastic I admit it. Hopefully it will improve as I play around with the program. It’s interesting to compare the current picture to the first picture from decorating bedroom. You can begin to see that color alone can transform a room. Of course you have to get the perfect color. Being able to run a simulation experiment where you can view how the room looks in a variety of colors would make choosing the right color paint a breeze.

I am playing around with designingonline.com’s Plan 3D program to get some ideas for decorating my bedroom. I plan to put a convertible sofa in the bedroom instead of a bed in order to create more room for movement as it’s a pretty small bedroom. It has a walk in closet and attached bathroom that’s supposed to be a master bathroom but it’s really not much of a walk in closet or much of a master bathroom and the bedroom itself is pretty cramped for my taste.

I’ve paid the annual fee of $35. and I can play around with Plan3D for another 364 days.

The picture shown here is my first attempt at using. I’m trying to create a very simple design with just the convertible sofa, an area rug, a TV, a dresser, a couple of floor lamps and maybe some wall decor. Breathing room is crucial for me. I don’t like a cluttered room.

The floor in my bedroom is carpeted. I hate carpet. When I move on up in the world and have my own home built it will be all hardwood floors. Of course I’ll use area rugs throughout, but absolutely no wall to wall carpeting.

Be careful when buying a sofa for your apartment not to get more sofa than your room can accommodate. If your apartment is small you should try to avoid buying sofas that are very bulky and long. Modern space saving styles are more suitable for apartment living, assuming your apartment is not a million dollar condo. Also, if you must get a sofa set consider a sectional instead but keep the layout of the room where the sofa will be placed in mind when deciding on a sectional or selecting a sectional. If sectionals are not your thing, then instead of getting a matching set you could get the sofa or the love seat instead of both, then, for a more eclectic look, select a completely different style for the second piece.

If you don’t plan on living in your apartment for a long period of time don’t splurge too much on your sofa. Although you can always take your sofa with you when you move, it probably makes more sense to wait until you move into your permanent home to buy your ultimate dream sofa.

It’s always best to buy your sofa locally so you can have the opportunity to test it out before you buy it. Sofas are pretty big items and if you buy a sofa online then you have to return it but the company doesn’t cover the shipping or refund what you paid to have the sofa shipped to you that could end up being enough money spent on shipping to have bought yourself another sofa.

If you absolutely must buy a sofa online then try to find reviews about the furniture company if buying direct from the company, and the furniture website if the website is not the manufacturer of the product before you commit. Places like Amazon.com and Overstock.com sell sofas and provide reviews from people like you who bought the same item. Take the time to read the reviews if there are any.

The key is to select a sofa that will not take up all the space in the room or make moving about difficult, and also that will not require years to pay off so that you’re still paying off on your apartment furniture even after you move out and into your dream home.

Why have I decided to put a convertible sofa in a bedroom? Well, simply because I would like to have some space in the bedroom during the day, and with a regular bed there’s not much room left to move around effortlessly.

Some of the possibilities include the Vancouver Convertible Sofa, the homelegance Convertible Futon Sofa - Wine, although I’m not too keen on the color wine, the Vancouver Convertible Sofa -Bone, and the Aruba Casual Convertible Sofa Bed-Khaki I’m more partial to the Aruba but it’s out of budget right now.

Considering my financial situation right now I probably need to go for the Seattle Convertible Sofa - Khaki, which is only $308; but you have to wonder how sturdy these convertible sofa beds are. And can they comfortably sleep two adults? Also can you have sex in a convertible bed without it breaking down?
